Active Heat Signatures are derived from satellites and may contain false positives. GOES has a 1km spatial resolution and heat signatures may be anywhere within that radius. Other false positives include solar power facilities, oil and gas plants, garbage dumps, and many other examples. VIIRS detects human created stable hotspots such as oil and gas flares. Please interpret the data carefully.
Overall Wildfire Risk data is a static dataset that represents the output of an algorithmic model based upon an array of factors. It is not live or near real time fire risk data.
